Dr. Lisa Weatherby, Dean Academic Services at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) presents key findings from her doctoral research Interpreting Inclusivity in Male-dominated Apprenticeship Classrooms and how they relate to all women working in male-dominated spaces. Concepts discussed include stereotype threat, disparate treatment, benevolent sexism, and gender microaggression. By building an understanding of how these cultural norms impact women in male-dominated fields, we are empowered with the language and an impetus for positive change.
